The stepped bases have canted corners and rise to a circular reeded well and bell shaped section, which rises to the beautifully turned reeded shaft.  This rises to a spool shaped socket.  The well is also engraved with a contemporary shield shaped Armorial.  Both are very well marked in the bases.  The difference in date letters is simply where the hallmarking year changed in May and one candlestick was marked on the last day of one year and the second on the first day of the next year.  The candlesticks are in excellent condition, are of a very good weight, and have a very fine colour.

The Arms are those of Lotherington of County Essex and County Norfolk, impaling Blague of County Norfolk.  Thomas Blague of Horringer, was Groom of the Bedchamber to both King Charles I and King Charles II.

Andrew Raven was a specialist Candlestick maker of fine quality, entering his first mark in August, 1697.

Height: 6.5 inches.

Base Diameter: 4.45 inches.
