The Sauceboat stands on a circular cast and applied spreading foot which is decorated with reeding. The elongated main body has a protruding upper section and finely shaped rim and pouring spout. This example has a scroll handle and the side of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Armorial surrounded by a Rococo floral and foliate cartouche. This piece has a very good weight and is very well marked in the foot. Thomas England was apprenticed to the great Huguenot silversmith, Jacob Margas and entered his first mark on 26th August 1725. He had workshops in Long Acre when this piece was made..
