The Vinaigrette is finely modelled as a Maltese Cross with incuse corners and rayed engraving on both the cover and the base. The centre of the cover is engraved with a prick dot cartouche, which is engraved with a set of contemporary script initials. The interior is finely gilded and very well marked, with a sterling mark on the underside of the grille. The grille is pierced and engraved with pluming scrolls and flower heads and this example has its original suspensory ring. This is an extremely rare design.
