A very fine George III Gold Mounted Citrine Vinaigrette. English and made circa 1820.

The Vinaigrette is broad rectangular in form, with canted corners.  The base and cover are formed of facetted citrine panels, joined in the centre with a gold reeded girdle, displaying a serpentine shaped thumb piece.  The cover opens up to reveal an unusual gold dished grille pierced with roundels to simulate a stylised flower head.  This piece is in quite excellent condition.

Height: 0.55 inches, 1.38 cm.

Provenance: Private Collection.

Purchased from Sotheby's London October 1987 and has not been on the market since.
