This very rare Snuff Box has a rounded rectangular form with gadrooned borders at the base and on the rim. This unusual example is divided to form two snuff compartments, each with a hinged cover. The cover and base are engraved with sunburst design within a beaded border around a vacant navette shaped cartouche on the cover and on the base a herring bone engraved frame surrounds a flower head. The interior is well marked in four locations and displays exceptional gilding. Each end also shows an upcurved thumbpiece. Dual compartment snuff boxes are rare and this example is in excellent condition.
