The Snuff Box has a broad rectangular form with deep, serpentine shaped, sides. The front, sides and base are profusely engraved with pluming scrolls, the cover displaying a cartouche containing a contemporary Crest. The base is engraved with a coursing scene of a hare and two hounds, all in a rural landscape. The box is in very crisp condition with deep interior gilding and clear hallmarks. The quality is outstanding, as to be expected from this premier box maker. This very fine example also still possesses its original silk and velvet lined red leather case.
