The Soup Ladle has a large shell bowl and a stem unusually decorated with cascading lobes at the top, as well as a raised section down the stem, a reeded border and shoulders where it meets the bowl.  The reverse of the stem also has a thread edge and is engraved at the top with a set of contemporary script initials.  The reverse of the bowl, where it meets the handle, also displays the unusual lobed decoration.  John Romer had workshops in Compton Street, Soho, when this piece was made.
