The Shells are unusually cast and are modelled as raying scallop shells. Both stand on two applied ball feet and the front displays a contemporary Prince of Wales plume Crest, issuing from a Ducal Coronet. The Shells are of an exceptional weight, being cast, and are very well marked. Charles Price was apprenticed to the goldworker Cornelius Bland and his first mark was entered on 11th February, 1812. His work is often of the finest quality and he occupied workshops at 25, St John's Street, Clerkenwell, when these shells were made.
