A fine George III Teapot and Stand made in London in 1789 by Henry Chawner

The Teapot is oval in form with straight sides and spout. The slightly domed cover terminates in a fruitwood finial and this piece also has a fruitwood handle. The main body and cover are engraved with bright cut and prick dot bands, as well as an oval cartouche containing contemporary script initials. The spout is also engraved with a stylised flower head surrounded by roundels. The oval stand has four panel feet and is engraved with the same designs as shown on the Teapot, as well as the same initials contained within an oval cartouche. Both pieces are very well marked and are in excellent condition.
