A George II Friendship Tot Cup made in London in 1733 by Richard Gurney & Thomas Cooke II

The Cup stands on a stepped spreading foot which is decorated with reeding. The inverted bell shaped main body has an everted rim and palely gilded interior. This piece also has a strap work scroll handle and is fully marked in the foot. Most interestingly is that the front is engraved with Friendship surrounded by a foliate scroll cartouche. These small cups were given as tokens of friendship and were used to toast friends. Gurney & Cooke were fine prolific silversmiths who were working in Foster Lane when this piece was made.
