The Wine Label is heavy die stamped and modelled in the stylised escutcheon form with a gadrooned rim, interspersed with an anthemion motif. The upper section displays a raised Rococo shell flanked by acanthus foliage. This piece displays the raised title of MADEIRA on a matted ground. This example is in excellent crisp condition and is very well marked on the face. Wine Labels made by Paul Storr are scarce and highly sought after, as he is considered to be the greatest silversmith of the 19th century.
