The vinaigrette is of a deep serpentine form, which is engraved all over with pluming feathery scrolls on a scratch engraved ground. The interior is finely gilded and displays an unusual grille. The grille is pierced and engraved to simulate a flower head and foliate motifs, coming out of an unusual Neo-Classical vase. The grille is also, most unusually, front opening and is marked on the underside.
