This extremely rare Vinaigrette is oval in form with a shaped border. The sides are engraved with trellis work and the base with horizontal bands of engine turned designs, around a central scroll cartouche engraved with a set of contemporary initials. The cover is very finely engraved with a very rare view of London Bridge viewed from the South Bank of the Thames, with St. Pauls Cathedral in the background and tall ships sailing on the Thames. The interior is finely gilded and the grille is pierced and engraved with pluming feathery scrolls and a flower head. This is only the second time we have offered this scene before and a near identical engraving of the same year, by Nathaniel Mills, is shown on page 102 of Silver Boxes by Eric Delieb.
