The Dishes are cast and stand on two detailed winkle shell feet. The main body is beautifully modelled as a scallop shell and the reverse is engraved with the Motto of the Order of the Garter, surmounted by the Coronet of a Duke. The shells are of an exceptional weight and would be ideal for serving butter, pate etc. John Samuel Hunt was a very fine silversmith, who worked in the Paul Storr firm and gained Royal patronage.
