NEWCASTLE. A rare English Provincial Caddy Spoon made in Newcastle in 1853 by Lister & Sons.

£450

At this date, Newcastle Caddy Spoons often display large scallop shell bowls and this example is no exception. The bowl is beautifully fluted and the handle decorated with raised shells, scrolls and anthemion motifs.  The handle is also engraved with two sets of initials, so was almost certainly a gift.  This piece is in excellent condition and is very well marked on the reverse of the handle.  Similar designs can be seen on Plate 71 of "Caddy Spoons" by Captain John Norie.

Length: 4 inches, 10 cm.

Width: 1.9 inches, 4.75 cm.
