The Cups have slightly tapering sides and an everted rim and fit well inside each other for storage when travelling. The interiors are finely gilded and the front of the main body is engraved with the Royal Armorial and Motto of King George III, with the Sovereigns Crown above, who reigned as King of Great Britain, 1760-1820. Both are marked on the base and are in quite excellent condition, with a good colour and weight. These Cups would almost certainly have been used when travelling, however it is also thought that they could be Field Cups, which would have been used while out hunting in the field. This is only the second time we have handled any Royal Irish silver.
Height: 3.5 inches.
Diameter at the rim: 3.45 inches.
