A very fine pair of cast Naturalistic Sugar Nips made in London in 1838 by Theobalds & Atkinson

The Nips are cast and are modelled in a naturalistic design with leaf capped arms and finger rings. The grips are modelled as detailed shells and the whole piece displays scrolls and shell details. The inside of one of the grips is engraved with a set of contemporary script initials and both arms are well marked. Theobolds & Atkinson were very fine silversmiths who producted quality serving pieces, often of innovative design.
