The Mustard Pot is modelled in the "Drum" form with a spreading reeded base and beaded rim. The sides are beautifully pierced with three bands, the central one with vertical pails interspersed with Neo Classical urns in ovals. This is flanked by two outer bands of lattice work centred by a raying flower head The sides are also engraved with wriggle work and bright cut designs. The hinged cover displays an outer wide bright cut border and is centred by a contemporary Crest issuing from a Ducal Coronet. This piece has a scroll side handle and a cast "chairback" thumb piece. The Pot is in excellent condition, has a blue glass liner and is fully marked on the base. It also displays a sterling mark on the underside of the cover. This is not a design which is seen often and an identical example, of the same date and by Thomas Daniel, was contained within the famous "Albert Collection" and is illustrated on page 83 of the collection catalogue. This can be seen in the image stream.
Base Diameter: 2.5 inches, 6.25 cm.
Height, to the top of the thumbpiece: 2.9 inches, 7.25 cm.
