The Spoons are silver gilt and are modelled in the Fiddle, Thread and Shell pattern, which is double struck, the pattern being on both the front and reverse of the stem. They are made of a particularly good gauge of silver, are very well marked and are in quite excellent condition. The top of each stem is engraved with the Crest of England, surrounded by a Garter cartouche containing the motto of the British chivalric Order of the Garter, the highest of all British knighthoods, " Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense - Shamed by (the person) who thinks evil of it." This is all surmounted by the Crown of the Monarch. This is all as used by King George III of Great Britain. It is unusual to find a set of stuffing spoons in sizes, which have remained together in such crisp condition. Considering their size and weight, the spoons have a length of 10 inches and 11 inches respectively. With reference to their weight, they weigh approximately 12.5 oz in weight, the set.
