This extremely rare preserve pot is modelled as a wicker basket with slightly tapering sides and corded base and rim. This piece displays two entwined handles and a pull-off cover with double oval loop handle. The front displays an oval disc cartouche engraved with an unusual Portcullis Crest, as used in the House of Commons. The pot and cover rests on a circular stand, modelled to simulate wicker, which rises to a raised corded rim. The base is also engraved with the same Crest as is shown on the main body. This piece is well marked, on all pieces, and is in excellent condition.
This is a particularly rare piece which would have been used for preserves and honey, however it is most unusual to find one modelled as a basket, with a stand.
Height: 5.5 inches, 13.75 cm.
Diameter of the stand: 6.5 inches, 16.25 cm.
Weight: 21oz.
