This extremely unusual Jug is modelled in the very rare early "Helmet" form and stands on a circular pedestal foot decorated with gadrooning.  The shaped rim and pouring spout is also decorated with gadrooning and the lower section of the main body displays a double band of acanthus spears.  This very unusual cast shell capped scroll handle terminates at the end with a detailed canine mask.  The front of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Crest.  The Jug is in excellent condition and is fully marked on the side of the main body.  The Jug represents a rare example of the early Helmet form executed to the finest standard by these exceptional silversmiths.
