This beautiful piece stands on a square pedestal foot decorated with a bright cut band.  The main body displays a lower, wide, band of bat wing fluting and a reeded rim.  The frieze at the top is decorated with very finely engraved designs included zig zag bands, foliate scrolls and flower heads in ovals, all on a scratch engraved ground.  The front displays a circular cartouche containing a very unusual contemporary Crest.  This piece is in excellent, crisp, condition and is fully marked in the foot.  The work of Peter Podio is also scarce, however is always of the finest quality in terms of design and production and very often of innovative design.  He was of Italian descent and had workshops in King Edward Street, when this piece was made.  As well as something which could be used for a variety of things in the dining room, it would also be a beautiful decorative piece on display, when not in use.

Diameter at the rim: 6.1 inches, 15.25 cm.

Height: 4 inches, 10 cm.

Weight: A very good 15oz.
