The Basket Stands on a circular pedestal foot decorated with beading, bright cut engraved designs as well as being pierced with a band of vitruvian scrolls.  The vase shaped main body displays a beaded rim and is pierced with two bands of horizontal vitruvian scrolls, in addition to flower heads in roundels.  The sides are also engraved with floral garlands, the lower band tied with ribbons.  The front displays a circular beaded cartouche containing a set of contemporary script initials.  

The handle is also decorated with beading and this piece has a blue glass liner.  The basket is in excellent condition and is very well marked in the foot which includes the rare incuse duty mark which was only used in 1784 and 1785.

Height to the rim: 3.65 inches, 9.13 cm.

Height to the top of the handle: 5.5 inches, 13.75 cm.

Diameter at the rim: 3.45 inches, 8.63 cm.
