The Jug stands on a spreading gadrooned foot and has a slightly baluster body which rises to an everted shaped gadrooned rim. The lower section of the main body is decorated with lobing and the loop handle with single reeded bands. The front of the main body is engraved with a contemporary script initial and the interior is palely gilded. The side of the main body displays a full set of hallmarks. The work of Richard Cooke is scarce and he was working at 29, Carey Street in the City of London, when this piece was made. He was known for his outstanding quality of design and production which led him to supply the leading Royal Retailers, Rundell & Co and Jeffrey, Jones & Gilbert.
