The stepped bases are decorated with linear bands and six raying shell motifs. The baluster shaped stems are also decorated with shells, flat fluting and reeding. Each has a detachable nozzle and the bases are both engraved with contemporary double Crests. The Candlesticks are both well marked in the foot and are of a very good weight and colour. Simon Jouet was of Huguenot descent and appears to have specialized in the production of candlesticks. He was apprentice to Thomas Folkingham.
