The Vinaigrette has serpentine shaped sides and a cast floral thumb piece. The base is engraved with different bands of engine turning, as well as a scroll cartouche containing contemporary script initials. The cover is finely engraved with a distinctive harbour scene, most probably the English Harbour in Antigua, famed for its protection shelter during violent storms and its British Colonial Naval Station called Nelsons Dockyard, after Horatio Nelson. The interior is finely gilded and displays a grille pierced and engraved with pluming scrolls. Very well marked on the cover and base and with a makers mark under the grille.
