The silver gilt Vinaigrette is broad rectangular in form and the cast cover and base are decorated with a panel of stylised flower heads surrounded by a foliate scroll work frame. The cover displays a vacant cartouche and the cartouche on the base is engraved with foliate scroll work. The sides are decorated with two bands of flower heads, as seen on the base and cover. The interior is finely gilded and the grille is pierced and engraved with a central floral wheel motif, surrounded by pluming scrolls. The bezel of the box is well marked and the underside of the grille displays a good makers mark. This is a very fine box of exceptional quality, as one would expect from this maker.
