This beautiful box is of an unusual octagonal form and the cover is inset with a shaded agate, overlaid with architectural ruins, trees and scrolls in the Chinoiserie style. The side panels are also inset with agate panels overlaid with pierced gold cagework and floral garlands hung between gold columns, with Rococo raying shells below. The thumb piece is modelled as a shell detail with scrolls and the base is also inset with a shaded agate. Most unusually, the interior and underside of the cover is lined with gold panels. This very unusual box also possesses its original silk and velvet lined Morroccan leather box. The Snuff Box, and case, are in excellent condition.
