The Bougie Box is of circular form and the sides and hinged cover are unusually pierced with bands of entwined ovals. The side displays a carrying handle modelled as a buckle, and the cover has a crescent shaped extinguisher. The base is clearly marked with a good makers mark and sterling mark. The partnership of these brothers only lasted from 1767-71, therefore we can accurately date it to this period. This is the first time we have seen a Bougie Box with a pierced out body.
