An extremely rare Travelling Marrow Spoon and matching Salt Cellar made in London in 1852 by Rawlings & Summers.

These two pieces would have been used for travelling and are of a smaller size. The marrow spoon is of a small size and is engraved on the reverse with a contemporary Crest. The Salt Caster has a circular form and plain design and the pull off cover is also engraved with the same contemporary Crest, as seen on the spoon. The interior is finely gilded and a removable inner section is pierced with plain roundels to regulate the amount of salt which could be dispensed. All pieces are fully marked and, as you will appreciate, it is very rare to find salt casters. The exterior is engraved with "Salt". Rawlings and Summers were exceptional silversmiths making very fine snuff boxes, vinaigrettes and wine labels at this date.
