The Bougie Box is modelled in the "Drum" form and has a beaded base and rim. The sides are beautifully pierced with bands of foliate spears, as well as stylised flowerheads in roundels. The piercing is interspersed with engraved floral garlands and a vacant circular cartouche at the front. The pull off cover has a central chimney for the wax to feed through and is decorated with bright cut designs. This example has a leaf capped scroll handle and a beaded conical extinguisher, attached to the side of the main body with a chain. The Bougie Box is in excellent condition and is very well marked on the base and also has corresponding marks on the cover and extinguisher.
