An unusual George III Pepper Caster made in London in 1803 by Robert & Samuel Hennell.

The Pepper stands on a square pedestal foot which is decorated with circular reeded bands. The section where the foot meets the main body is decorated with a gadrooned band and the main body is modelled in a most unusual pear shape and has a reeded rim. The high domed pull off cover has a gadrooned rim and terminates in a ball finial. The cover is pierced with roundels and is engraved with various prick dot bands. The caster is in excellent condition and the front of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Crest, below the Coronet of a Viscount. The foot is also engraved with a contemporary script initial. The caster is fully marked in the foot and with a good makers mark and sterling mark on the cover.
