These exceptional Candlesticks stand on a plain triple stepped base which rises to a square section which is decorated with drapery and laurel leaf swags in addition to detailed rams head masks. Each side also displays an oval cartouche, with tied ribbons above, one of which is engraved with a contemporary Crest, below the Coronet of a Viscount. The main shaft is of the Ionic column form and the pull off nozzles have incuse sides which are decorated with beading. The Candlesticks are loaded with mahogany and are very well marked on the bases. The Crest and Coronet are those as used by William Chetwynd, 4th Viscount Chetwynd of Bearhaven, in the County of Kerry.
