This beautiful case is modelled as a book with divided spine and two filigree fastening clasps and was probably used to contain a precious paper book or aide memoire.  The centre of the front and the back displays a central raised raying flower head and unusual tr-furcated motifs in each corner.  This piece is in quite excellent condition and the quality of the filigree modelling is exceptional.
