A very fine pair of George III Oval Salvers made in London in 1798 by John Wakelin & Robert Garrard I.

The Salvers, one pictured, were made by The Royal silversmiths John Wakelin & Robert Garrard I of Panton Street and are oval in form with a raised reeded rim and stand on four cast panel feet. The centre of each salver is engraved with a contemporary Armorial, with Crest above and the Motto Confido-I Trust below. The Arms, Crest and Motto are those of the Boyd family of Kilmarnock, County Ayrshire. The Salvers are in excellent condition, with a good colour and marks. The name of Wakelin & Garrard appears in the Jewel Office accounts in 1797 as Goldsmith & Jeweller to King George III and the Prince of Wales, later George IV,
