The Box is modelled in an unusual broad rectangular form with up-curved base. The cover, sides and base are decorated all over with panels of engraving to simulate a wicker basket. The decoration has been executed to the finest standard. The box is in excellent, crisp, condition and is very well marked in the base and on the underside of the cover. William Parker was an exceptional box maker in terms of design and quality production. He was apprenticed to Thomas Phipps and entered his first mark in November 1798. He had workshops at 5, Staining Lane when this fine box was made.
