A George III Wine Label engraved for BUCELLOS made in London circa 1784/85 by Susanna Barker.

£550

This label is modelled in the plain crescent form and is pierced with the title of BUCELLOS, which is a misspelling of the wine Bucellas.  This title is recorded in " Wine Labels 1730-2003 - A Worldwide History" on page 387.  The label is in excellent condition and is well marked on the reverse with the maker's mark, sterling mark and incuse King's head duty mark which was only used in 1784 and 1785, so we can accurately date it to one of these two years.
