The Snuff Box is broad rectangular in form, with cut corners, and displays reeded mounted where the agate panels are inset into the cover and base.  The sides are very unusually chased with various pictorial panels including a duck on water, squirrels in an rural landscape and an exotic bird in flight.  The sides are also chased with trellis work, geometric designs, flower heads and foliate sprays.  Gold mounted boxes are usually plain at this date, so to find a chased example is very unusual.  The quality of design and production is exceptional and this piece also has a protruding serpentine shaped thumb piece decorated with Rococo shells and scrolls. The box is in excellent, crisp, condition.
