The Mug has tapering sides which are decorated with three wide reeded bands. The lower section of the main body displays a band of swirl flutes and lobes below a band of foliate designs, which was a popular form of decoration at this date. The plain scroll handle is beautifully decorated with bold beading. The Mug is fully marked on the side of the main body and with a makers mark on the handle. This piece is in excellecnt condition and has a good colour. John Porter was apprentice to John Sutton and had workshops on The Strand, when this mug was made. The Base is also engraved with a Crest below the inscription AS April 18th 1698
