The Candlesticks are cast and have shaped bases with a sunken circular well, decorated with reeding. The baluster faceted stems, and spool shaped sockets, are also decorated with reeded bands. The bases are very well marked and the candlesticks have a good colour and weight. William Gould was apprentice to his brother James Gould, also a specialist candlestick maker. His most famous work is the great Knesworth Chandelier in the Fishmongers Company, which is dated 1752.
