The box we refer to is a very fine Charles II Patch Box, of good size, which was made in London circa 1682 and is stamped with the maker's mark of IA in monogram, which is shown in Jackson's "Silver & Gold Marks", page 138. As you will see from the attached images, the box is circular in form with a plain base. The pull off cover is beautifully engraved with a Tulip in full bloom which was a popular decorative motif on silver during the reign of Charles II, the influence being when he was in exile in Holland until the Monarchy was restored in England in 1660. The base and the cover is stamped with the maker's mark and the box is in excellent condition.
