An exceptionally rare George III Tea Vase made in London in 1802 by Peter, Ann & William Bateman.

This very rare piece stands on a circular, stepped, pedestal foot which is decorated with reeding and bands of prick dot and bright cut engraving. The Classical vase shaped body has a reeded rim and displays horizontal protruding bands engraved with unusual linear scrolls. The front of the main body also displays a vacant crossed branch bright cut cartouche. The high domed cover is decorated with reeding, wriggle work, a band of stiff leafage and terminates in a ball finial. The vase is in excellent condition and is fully marked in the foot and on the cover. Tea vases are rare to find by any silversmith, however to find one being made in the Bateman workshops is rare. Peter, Ann & William Bateman were only in partnership for four years, therefore the number of pieces bearing their mark is limited in number.
