The Case is broad rectangular in form, with rounded ends and a hinged cover. The front is beautifully decorated with raised crisp Rococo scrolls as well as floral and foliate sprays. The centre displays a country hunting scene showing hunting hounds running across the landscape in pursuit of a fox, pictured on the left hand side. The cover displays a shaped cartouche engraved with A long life and a merry one. The sides and reverse are also chased with scrolls, flower heads and foliate designs. The centre of the base has a large cartouche engraved with PGW from JLM Jr, June 12th, 1854. The case is very well marked on the main body and cover and is in excellent crisp condition.
