An extremely rare George IV Fox Head Snuff Box Snuff Box made in Birmingham in 1835 by Joseph Willmore.

£5,500

This very rare Snuff Box is finely modelled as a Fox head, with textured surface to simulate the fur of the fox.  This example has an engine turned cover-lid, with vacant rectangular cartouche,  displaying a chased floral border.    Both the main body and cover are well marked and this piece is in excellent condition, with a deeply gilded interior.   Fox head Snuff Boxes are extremely scarce.  A near identical example is shown in “Silver Boxes” by Eric Delieb page 95.  A similar example, also by Joseph Willmore,  is contained within the Lion Collection and is illustrated on page 230 of the catalogue.  A very rare box indeed.
