A very fine George III Neo-Classical Sugar Basket made in London in 1774 by Burrage Davenport.

The Basket stands on a square pedestal foot decorated with acanthus foliage and Neo Classical medallions. The main body has a beaded rim above a section of Neo-Gothic pierced designs decorated with blue bell garlands tied with paterae. The lower section displays unusual lobing and the basket has a blue glass liner. The basket has a twisted arched handle and is in quite excellent condition. This piece is fully marked in the foot and displays a vacant cartouche.
Height, to the rim: 5.5 inches, 13.75cm.
Diameter at the rim: 4.75 inches, 11.88cm
