The Spoon is of typical form with a trefoil end to the stem and a reeded rat tail on the reverse of the bowl. The stem is marked with PP, in a shield, for Peter Pemberton I, the word STERLING twice, in a shield shaped punch, and the Gothic date letter C, which was used in 1692-93. These marking are illustrated on page 389 of Jackson and the example cited is a trefid spoon. It is thought that this may be the only trefid spoon, of childs size, from the Seventeenth century, which was made in Chester.
