These rare dishes stand on a circular pedestal foot which is decorated with reeding and which is engraved with a contemporary script initial. The circular bowls have a very unusual dipping rim which is also decorated with reeding. The interiors display their original gilding and both are very well marked in the foot. This an extremely are Bateman design and both are of the finest quality, in excellent condition.. The partnership of Peter, Ann & William Bateman only lasted for five years and therefore the amount of silver bearing their mark is scarce.
