This very fine caddy spoon is one of the rarest acorn designs to be made in Birmingham, always bearing the mark of Hart and Company and nearly always dated 1806. Acorn Caddy Spoons are very rare, however most were made in London by Elizabeth Morley or Thomas James. The bowl is beautifully shaped and die stampted to simulate the shape and texture of the acorn. This piece has a plain bi-furcated handle and is very well marked on the side of the bowl. The spoon is in excellent condition and an identical example is shown in "Caddy Spoons", by Captain John Norie, Plate97, Figure B.

Length: 3.5 inches, 8.75cm.
