This exceptionally rare piece is cast and modelled in the form of an 18th century Pedlar Lady, in period dress. The figure holds aloft the fluted drip pan and the socket is decorated with reeded girdles. The unusual drip pan, is decorated with foliate motifs. The domed base is pierced and chased in the Rococo manner with scrolls, crisp floral sprays and foliate motifs. This piece is in excellent condition and is very well marked. It is of the finest quality, as would be expected from the Crespell workshops, a family of silversmiths of Huguenot descent.
