The Dishes are circular in form with a baluster shaped main body which rises to an everted rim decorated with lobing.  Each stands on three beautifully detailed cast winged paw feet, flanked by floral roundels, a design which Benjamin Smith was known for.  Each is in excellent condition and has a gilded interior.  The base displays a crisp set of marks and the sides are engraved with a contemporary Crest and the coronet of a Baron.

Benjamin Smith was extensively patronised by King George III & George IV and numerous examples are contained within the Royal Collection.  His most important production is probably the Jamaica Service of 1803 in the Collection of Her Majesty the Queen.

These were originally made for salt or spice, however they could be used to serve a variety of things today such as butter, pate or olives for example.
